r/PawPawPet Moderator
Last updated: 30 September 2026
The short version: r/PawPawPet, the Paw-Paw community on Reddit, uses an automated moderator. It reads new posts, comments and messages to the moderators, asks Google's Gemini AI whether they follow the community rules, and removes those that don't. Repeat rule breaks can lead to a temporary ban. If it gets something wrong, reply to its message and a person will look at it.
This page covers the PawPaw Moderator app (the "Moderator"), a Reddit Developer Platform app installed only in the r/PawPawPet community. It is provided by Daystrom OÜ, a company registered in Estonia (registry code 17537299), Tornimäe tn 5, Tallinn 10145 ("we", "us", "our"). Full provider details are in our legal notice. Sections 1 to 5 are the terms of use; sections 6 to 10 are the privacy notice.
Terms of use
1. What the Moderator does
When someone posts, comments or messages the moderators in r/PawPawPet, the Moderator checks the text against the community rules shown in the r/PawPawPet sidebar. Depending on the result, it may:
- leave the content alone;
- remove the post or comment and send its author a message naming the rule;
- give a temporary ban to someone who breaks the rules repeatedly;
- give a permanent ban in clear-cut cases such as scams, fake download links, spam accounts or targeted harassment;
- add a short reply, for example asking for version details on a bug report.
It acts as a moderator of r/PawPawPet only. It has no access to other communities, your private chats, or your Paw-Paw app.
2. Rules that apply
Posting in r/PawPawPet means following Reddit's User Agreement, Reddit's Rules, and the r/PawPawPet community rules. The Moderator enforces the community rules; it doesn't change or replace Reddit's.
3. Mistakes & appeals
Automated moderation makes mistakes. If you think a removal or ban was wrong, reply to the Moderator's message or message the r/PawPawPet moderators. A person will review it, and will restore your content or lift the ban if the Moderator got it wrong. Asking for a review never counts against you.
4. No guarantee
The Moderator is provided free of charge, "as is", to help keep the community friendly. We don't promise that it catches every rule break or never removes something it shouldn't. Our Terms of Use on disclaimers, limitation of liability and governing law apply to the Moderator as well. Nothing here limits rights you have under law that can't be limited.
5. Changes
We may change how the Moderator works, or switch it off. When this page changes, we'll update the date at the top.
Privacy notice
6. Who is responsible
Daystrom OÜ is the controller for the data the Moderator processes. Reddit, Inc. is separately responsible for everything else that happens on Reddit, under Reddit's Privacy Policy. For privacy questions, email privacy@paw-paw.pet.
7. What it processes & why
- What you post in r/PawPawPet: the title, text and link of a post, the text of a comment, or the text of a message to the moderators. This is checked against the community rules. Images and videos are not sent to the AI; Reddit's own filters check those.
- Your Reddit username and account ID: when the Moderator removes something, it records them together with the content's ID, the rule and the action taken. This lets it tell a one-off slip from repeated rule breaks. Your username is not sent to Gemini.
- Basic account signals from Reddit, such as account age and karma. These help spot spam accounts and are only used inside the Moderator.
Legal basis: our legitimate interest in keeping r/PawPawPet safe, on topic, and free of spam and scams (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)). We don't use this data for advertising, or for anything other than moderating r/PawPawPet.
8. Who else receives it
| Provider | Purpose | Data involved |
|---|---|---|
| Reddit, Inc. (USA) | Runs the Moderator on the Reddit Developer Platform and stores its records | Everything listed in section 7 |
| Google (Gemini API) | Checks content against the community rules | Post, comment and message text, and the community rules. No usernames |
We use the paid Gemini API, under which Google does not use the content to train its models. Google keeps requests for a limited time to detect abuse, as its terms describe. Transfers outside the European Economic Area rely on each provider's data-transfer safeguards, such as the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework or Standard Contractual Clauses.
9. How long it's kept
The Moderator keeps its records of removals and bans for 180 days, then deletes them automatically; a ban that is still running is kept until it ends. Your posts and comments stay on Reddit under Reddit's rules, and deleting them on Reddit works as usual.
10. Your rights
You can ask for a copy of the Moderator's records about you, ask us to correct or delete them, or object to the processing, by emailing privacy@paw-paw.pet with your Reddit username. Our Privacy Policy lists all your rights, including the right to complain to a data protection authority.
